This past Sunday the young lady and I went on a mother- daughter date to one of our local farmer markets- The North Delta Winter Market at Sunbury Hall.
We had a great time checking out the variety of food trucks onsite, including Super Thai, Reel Mac & Cheese, Uncle Kebab, & Big Red’s Poutine. There were also tents set up with Cravings Kettle Corn & Wilkyz Grill, among others. I think it’s great that we’re developing a food truck culture in Vancouver, and that they’re making their way out of the big city so that they’re accessible to the suburban neighbourhoods. Make sure you show your support & check ’em out! We need to keep these guys coming back! You can also check out the Street Food Vancouver App to see where some of these guys will be & for how long, or to request a catering quote (hello how cool is that!?).
The food trucks set up outside the hall…
Once inside we perused the booths of local artisans & businesses. I enjoyed a dark roast & double chocolate biscotti by Biscotti Joe (delicious! And roasted fresh in Fort Langley). The layout worked well and allowed for comfortable movement; this is a bonus when you’re manoeuvring a stroller! It was a warm & cozy shopping environment, with areas set- up to enjoy the food truck goodies inside with live music. There was a great variety of booths, ranging from homemade & natural bath & skincare products (check out Lavender Avenue & Mediterra Soaps and Body Care), jams & jellies (Mama Chasse’s), jewellery, fresh baked goods, crafts, & plants (Garden Buds), among others. Edible Vancouver also had a booth and was handing out copies of their current issue & samples of their spiced nuts (if you haven’t picked up a copy of this great magazine, get your hands on one! They focus on quality & local eating and showcase local venues & businesses). Safe to say, I came home with a few goodies and got my Christmas shopping kick- started (my goal this year to buy as much local as I can).
Inside Sunbury Hall- there was a great variety of booths.
The next Winter Market will be on Sunday, November 24 from 11am- 4pm at Sunbury Hall.
You can also check out their website & Facebook page for more dates & vendor info.
